Soldiers

Young men strive to reach internal peace,
They fight and die to make suffering cease.

Young men fight as do tin soldiers
They hold the world upon their shoulders.

Young men kill others who must fight,
They suffer and cry remembering the sight.

Young men, young soldiers die in fear;
Their young wives shed unending tears.

Young men give of themselves - - their lives
They do so to free their children and wives.

Young men today, must die once again,
And it doesn't matter what we pretend.

They die to protect us, they die to help;
They die as martyrs and I think of myself!

Until

Clouds caress the mountains high
As a sudden wind passes by,
The sun shines through a sky so grey,
Reflecting the sparkle of the ocean bay.
The sun will shine ever so bright,
Until the moon controls the night;
Until the darkness prevails as king,
Until the songbirds cease to sing.

Soon

Soon you will leave me,
Soon you must go;
Soon time will mellow
The love that we know.

Soon you will need me,
Soon you will care;
Soon time will mellow
The love that we share.

Soon you will love me,
Soon you will stay;
Soon you will realize
Our love's for today.

Memories

Sharp and crystal memories
of others I have known;
Of games I played
and times I've spent alone.

Alone to some,
means being sad,
But not for me,
it's being glad.
It's having time,
to think and feel;
To sort out life
as image or real!

A Message

Time leaves its message
carved upon rock;
This message though silent,
does seem so to mock.

The power of time
is not on man's side,
Man can only
take it in stride.

Man must heed the
whispered words of time,
But he will never
accept it as Divine.
He knows the master
of time is God,
For time is part
of the creation of the Lord.

Yesterday

The time was when the sun shone,
Time was when the battle was fought,
Time was when all I had owned
Or all I had dreamed of- - I caught.

But today is the present, not yesterday;
Today I must find a new time.
I must seek for a new day
And find all that's Divine.

The Sun

Cherry red and lemon gold
Describe a swollen sun;
It's lemon gold throughout the day,
And red when day is done.

Time Can't Be Held

Time is not lost,
Time is not held;
Time is not owned
Or something to sell.

Time's Owner

Time is so precious,
Time is so rare;
Time is possessed
By those men who care.

Are Closely Bound

Love and hate are closely bound;
In one man's heart, each is found.
For in loving you hate
much of the time,
But through knowing hatred
you learn love is Divine.

Peace

Peace is often
represented by a dove.
One that stands
for happiness and love.
The dove of peace
comes in such a special way,
As to shine it's precious light
clearly and gay.
Today is the time
for turmoil to cease,
The time today
is a time for peace.

Time's Memory

Time numbs all painful wounds
And shrouds mankind in empty tombs.
Time erodes a fertile land
Changing it into dying sand.
Time absorbs the water's will
Causing it to dry and still;
Time enjoys all this control
Because it knows it has no hold.

A Rose

A rose is delicate
beautiful and sweet,
A constant reminder of
life's conceit.
A rose though lovely
has thorns that prick;
The distress is minor
and very quick.
But a rose should be held
touched and compared,
And its priceless beauty
constantly shared.

Mountains

Rustic mountains
caressed by the sun,
Fall into shadow
as the day is done.
Their beauty is open
crisp and bright
They tower majestically
for they alone are right.
They seem cold
friendless and such
But they give me the love
I need so much.
A love I can touch
hold and embrace
Not a love I need follow
or constantly chase.

A Fear

I'm afraid to say
I need you
Or that my love
is ever true.
It hurts me to say it
I really don't dare;
Oh God, how it hurts
to know you don't care.
Your concern is for you,
I'm not in question;
To say we're in love
is just a suggestion.
A careless remark
of innocense and charm
A remark full of hope,
warmth, yet, calm.

Waves

Sun sets over
glistening streams,
The ocean waves
silently gleam;
They smile and sing,
toss and turn,
They whistle and hum,
and quickly learn- -
They fuss and fumble
gurgle and coo
They make me realize
the sky's special hue.

Meadow Come Alive

Meadows come alive,
they blossom and grow;
Clouds pass overhead
and raindrops slow.
Meadows come alive;
they swell and stretch afar,
Meadows come alive
and shine beneath the stars.

Magic

Magic shows its life
through wondrous thought and deed
Echoing in my mind
encouraging me to need.
And need I may- -
yes, need I might,
To strive to find
the perfect light- -
The light that shines
to brighten my day
That comes to me
in this special way.

Reach Out

Brightly burns a candle's soul,
As each child strives to reach His goal.

Him

This is for him
who stands so tall,
Who never bothers
to heed another's call.
Who never wants
a timeless love,
Who never thinks
of God's heaven above.
Yes, he is taking
all life in his hands,
He is determining
all the commands.
He does reign
as a god so high
And he never listens
to hear mankind's cry.
He never falters
he never wonders,
He'll never accept punishment
for all of his blunders.
He is a fool,
a jester and knave;
He'll never understand
any of what we say- -
For he is deaf,
is blind and dumb,
To all our tears and
fears he is numb.
Yet, he is the ruler
the leader and king;
He to us torment
and pain will he bring.
For he is a master
of all that is shared
He controls life,
not that he cares.
Who is this man,
this ruler untrue?
You must admit
he is someone like you.

Changes

Green meadows roll along
Bright blue birds sing their songs.
Ocean waves line the shore
As silence reigns forever more.
Moonlight shines along the bay,
As mankind strives to find his day.

Thoughts

Funny thoughts occur to me,
Of life and love- -the ocean sea;
Thoughts of nothing, yet so fine,
Thoughts that echo in my mind.
Thoughts of tomorrow- -some of today,
Thoughts that come in a special way.

What Is Love?

Love seems a simple message to convey,
But it is far too difficult to say.
It is for roses, beauty and peace,
It is for angels; it is caprice.
It's not for me- -it's not to speak- -
It's laughter, life and mountain peaks.

Clutching Velvet Fingers

Fear and sorrow
are on the prowl;
They're daring creatures
who always howl.
They clutch and grasp
and obtain control,
Once they have caught you,
you can't break the hold.

Two Lovers

Crisp winds blow o'er golden sand
As two lovers walk- -hand in hand.
Time will mellow their love so new
Into a love that is deep and true.

The Path

Silent echoes resound
once again
As one man walks
alone without friends.
He sees before him
the path of tomorrow,
The only path
which he can follow.
Along this path
he watches each step,
For fear that carelessness
will cause him to trip;
Yet, even if tripping
should cause him to fall- -
Thinking it over;
would it matter at all?

A Comparison

It's a wonder to me
that a panther is sleek
When a poor little kitten
is so obviously weak.
They belong to a family
that varies so much- -
From tiger and lion,
to jaguar and such.
They differ in color,
in strength and in size- -
All the wisdom they know,
shines in their eyes.

They Care

Caring and sharing
one's life with another
Makes one so
appreciative of his brother.
Those who give
all that they can,
To help not only you
but all men;
Care for mankind
for all men's lives,
And make this earth,
God's paradise.

Silence

Silence rules our earth,
And sorrow reigns as queen.
Its beauty is unknown
And far beyond my dreams.

Night

The sky is dark
the moon is bright;
A phantom in black,
kisses the night.

Horror

Whispered horrors
in shrouded tombs,
Of deepening shadows
and empty rooms.
Times for wishes
not to come true,
Times for friends
to be disloyal too;
Horror describes
my heart and my soul,
'Til I'll stand no more
and lose control.

Night Has Fallen

The moon is full
the night is still,
The darkness is ruler- -
the sun's lost its will.
The evening is warm,
the shadows have charm
And a hush has fallen
on fields all around.

You

Blankets of flowers bloom silently
As all that I want, comes softly to me.

Must I?

Must I tell you
how much I love you
With a love
that is constantly true?
Must I always
assure you
About our love
that's so new?
Don't you believe
in me?
Or the love
that you see?
Don't you realize
my love's to share?
Don't you realize
how much I care?

Golden Glisten

Man moves swiftly
with crashing blows
Destroying all
that does not glow;
That which is bright,
shinning and cold,
Is a precious and valuable
rarity- -gold.

What Is Beauty?

What is beauty?
Is it thought or deed?
Is it knowing love
or having need?
What am I,
what do I feel?
What is beauty?
What is real?
I can judge others
for what they be- -
But to judge myself
I'm too blind to see.

Unanswered Questions

I wonder as I walk
and look upon God's earth;
Was life created solely
to fulfill mankind's mirth?
What does nature tell me?
What do the stars say?
What is it the rustling leaves
are trying to convey?

Nature

The shallow sea careens in vain,
As mountains tower o'er fields of grain;
The sun shines light on all it sees
As the tapping rain floats on the breeze.

Realization

The surge of attack
the victor's feast;
These raging conflicts
awe kings in the least.
Still confused and perplexed
one question is spoken,
"What worth has this battle,
are we soldiers mere tokens?
Tokens of battle
destruction and war,
Tokens of sorrow
conflict and more?"
What worth has this conflict
this destruction; this death?
What worth has this soldier
who breathes his last breath?
"No worth," cries the soldier
gun held in his hand
"No worth dead,"
does he now understand?
"No worth what-so-ever,
none I can see;
For if I too must die- -
nothing expresses his worth to me!

My Debt To You

I owe you my heart
my mind and my soul,
You've brought to me
love, peace- - a new goal.

Brotherhood

Man will someday
become more aware,
And on that day
he will learn to care;
To be loving and giving
and ever be bright- -
Not to live in the darkness
but, shed the light.

Thoughts

Thought is powerful
common, yet true,
It weakens the mind
exhausting you.
Yet, your spirit lessens
in time of need
You learn to laugh
instead of bleed.

The Search For God

God knows, God loves
God understands,
And is prepared to help
with His Divine hands.
Seek now for love-
for peace of mind,
This love you'll attain
this peace you will find.

The Birth Of Man

Courage, wit and affection
qualities not known before;
Are introduced
as a man matures.
Some reach this point
early in life-
Though many too late
to fulfill other's plight.
But the man by whom
this goal is never attained
Is the man whose hands
and heart is stained;
Stained with the blood
of his fellow man
Stained with the sin
of dispersing plan.
Stained now and again
indelibly so,
Stained for today
as well as, tomorrow.

Childish Dreams

A peace of joy, a lack of sorrow
The quiet wonder of bright tomorrow.
Dream your dreams and see the light
Know of happiness- -be ever bright.
You dream of God, of heart and mind,
Then you dream of the peace and love you'll find.
But remember now, as you dream on
It's the dream of a child- -that ends as each day dawns.

Emotions

Emotions play tricks on the eye
Emotions encourage stability to fly,
Emotions determine a child from a man
And discourage a life with the wave of a hand.
Beliefs are blind, immortal, untrue;
Beliefs destroy all that you do.
Beliefs possess a man's soul,
Often obtaining complete control.
The heart rules the ears, the eyes and the mind- -
The ears often deaf, the eyes often blind.
A mind so untouched, unbiased and true
Is merely a dream that encourages you.
You need not encouragement, not in the least- -
For the bravest of animals is certainly a beast.
My heart and my mind are open once more
Until some stranger closes the door- -
The door to my dreams, my hopes or my love
The dreams I embrace- -I have and I love.

Hope Is Near

Hope has arrived in its wonderful way-
To warm and assure you of, needless to say;
A love that exists from one to another- -
A man who knows all mankind is his brother.
You wish and you pray, you know now of paradise- -
You realize your dreams, there is love in your eyes.

The Call Of Wisdom

The consistent fear that you may fail
Can only lead to one common trail,
A trail to no where- -no where at all,
For still remains the ideal call.
The happy, warm, wonderful party of then
You wish and you pray will come once again.
Never shall it enter the sharp and crystal mind,
Never shall it come once more- -this joy you'll never find.

Life

Life should be lived to the fullest degree,
Don't stand motionless and age as does an oak tree.
Move about freely, as free as a bird
Don't remain immobile, as a part of the herd.
Move swiftly, directly- -fear none that attack,
A hero you'll be with your name on a plaque.

A Dream Of Snow

A wind or gale, a haunting gust
One sees his way and go he must.
A whisper of glass, a glintering of light,
The silent mist of this December night.
The hush has fallen on fields in sorrow,
And there it stays until tomorrow.
When it's gone and over, still I'll remember
This quiet warmth of snow's December.

Majesty

A sundrenched meadow of gold
Caressed the ancient celestrial old- -
A silent hilltop of untouched hollow
A silent echo for me to follow- -
And go I will to touch my dreams,
To fulfill all plans and understand all schemes.

Learning

I am unable to cope
with this unGodly lack of hope,
I have fears of fear
and all I hold dear.
But, not of a decisive act
which would spare me this attack,
I see now, I understand;
God has extended His mighty hand.
I feel comfort and love
which place Him far above.
Above His creation kind and strong
He sings His children's song.
Sung as a father to his child
of peace and love and mercy mild.
What love He has on our behalf,
I am secure- - I now can laugh.
Laugh at despair, at fear and hate;
For I stand now at Heaven's gate.
